I think Ronald Koeman has to embrace something new, as he keeps trying to do the same thing with the same players, and only a fool can't see that it isn't working. It's the equivalent of not leaving a sinking ship because you think the life boats aren't good enough.

James McCarthy expected to be fit for Everton's visit of Manchester United next weekThe Irishman was absent from the 1-0 defeat at Southampton on Sunday having suffered a recurrence of a hamstring problemEverton midfielder James McCarthy is expected to be available for next weekend's visit of Manchester United. McCarthy was absent from the 1-0 defeat at Southampton on Sunday having suffered a recurrence of a hamstring problem. However, Blues boss Ronald Koeman is confident the Republic of Ireland international isn't facing another lengthy spell on the sidelines having already experienced an injury-hampered campaign. “McCarthy stopped training after the first session this week,” said Koeman. “He was tired and had a little problem in his hamstring again. “He did not train Tuesday or Wednesday. He started training on Friday again and I didn't take the risk of putting him in the team because we need everybody fit and available for the busy time coming up.” Koeman was making his first return to Southampton since his controversial switch to Goodison in the summer. And while he was target of occasional jeers from parts of the St Mary's crowd, the Dutchman praised the welcome he received from his former club. “Of course, I have very good feelings and very good memories about Southampton. “Everybody is free to react however they want. I know from the players how they reacted to me. The staff in general of Southampton appreciate a lot what we did together. “That's for me the most important thing. The rest, that's football. That's life.” Liv Echo
