Everton are considering a move for Udinese defender Thomas Heurtaux as John Heitinga nears an exit from the club, SportsDirect News understands.
The 25-year-old has been one of the stand-out performers for the Serie A side this season, contributing an impressive four goals and one assist from the back.
However, with Udinese currently lying in a disappointing 15th place in the Italian top flight, Heurtaux may be persuaded to make the switch to the Premier League, with Everton manager Roberto Martinez believed to be keen on him.
With Dutch defender Heitinga targeted by the likes of Fulham and West Ham United, Everton may be persuaded to sell the player if they are able to bring in a quality replacement.
The Toffees currently boast the tightest defence in the league alongside Arsenal and Chelsea, but are looking to strengthen their options and bring in a long-term replacement for the ageing Sylvain Distin.
