Five Young Lions Making Everton ProudEverton's England Under-20s contingent one match away from World Cup glory. Five goals and five assists. Simple statistics which highlight the contributions made by Everton’s representatives in England Under-20s’ journey through to the World Cup final. The Young Lions are just one game away from glory, with Venezuela the last hurdle to overcome on Sunday. Everton have five players in the squad - Ademola Lookman, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Kieran Dowell, Jonjoe Kenny and Callum Connolly - and all have played their part in the team’s remarkable crusade over in South Korea. Lookman, in particular, has come to the fore in the tournament’s knockout stages, hitting three goals in as many games. The former Charlton Athletic man was the match-winner in the last 16, landing both blows as England defeated Costa Rica 2-1. Those goals could not have been scored, however, without the efforts of Kenny and Calvert-Lewin who both provided the assists. It was a victory made at Everton. And in a tense semi-final against Italy on Thursday, it was the Lookman who again stepped up to take centre stage. With the score 1-1 heading into last quarter of an hour, the forward lurked at the far post, composed himself with classy control on the chest and buried a finish into the bottom corner. Dominic Solanke then put the gloss on a courageous 3-1 comeback win. Of course, England earned the right to compete in the knockout rounds by doing the groundwork in the group stages. The tone was set in their first fixture - a brilliant 3-0 win over one of the fancied teams, Argentina. Calvert-Lewin put the Young Lions on their way with an early goal having been set up by Dowell. The Everton winger chipped in with two assists that evening, also having a hand in Adam Armstrong’s strike. Connolly, playing at left-back, helped to preserve a clean sheet. A 1-1 draw with Guinea in the second fixture meant that England could not afford any slip-ups in final group game against hosts South Korea. It was another excellent evening for Everton as a 1-0 win - enough for tournament progress - was secured via a well-worked goal from Dowell, who latched onto Kenny’s precise cutback. And so four weeks of hard work comes down to one final match this Sunday. Everton’s representatives have the chance to make history by being part of an England squad that could win a World Cup for the first time since the senior side lifted the Jules Rimet Trophy at Wembley in 1966. Regardless of the outcome against Venezuela, it’s been a fantastic adventure for the five young Blues and one that all associated with Everton Football Club are immensely proud of. Everton FC

Has anybody been following this? I have. Solanke seems one hell of a player - shame he has just joined the dark side. Lookman has impressed too. Calvert-Lewin really doesn't do anything for me...I hope I am wrong , but he looks like a poor mans Brett Angel
