Everton's hopes of landing Romelu Lukaku on a permanent basis from Chelsea could be scuppered by German giants Borussia Dortmund.
Dortmund are being linked with a swoop for the Chelsea striker as they target a replacement for Robert Lewandowski who has agreed to join Bayern Munich at the end of the season. Borussia now have the next few months to try and find someone to fill his boots.
That will be easier said than done but reports in Germany claim they could turn their attentions to Lukaku, who continues to shine while on loan at Everton.
The striker's future remains up in the air and it remains to be seen if he will figure in Jose Mourinho's plans next season, despite his proven record in the top-flight.
Everton would love to take him on a permanent basis but will struggle to come up with the funds and that may open the door for Dortmund, who could also offer him Champions League football.
