Crystal Palace are apparently interested in signing Nikica Jelavic from Everton and, like West Ham are reported to be, are ready to offer an initial £3.5m for the striker. Roberto Martinez has admitted his reluctance to sell the Croatian who returned to scoring ways in the FA Cup last weekend but Jelavic is in need of first-team football to bolster his hopes of being selected in his country's World Cup squad this summer. West Ham have been strongly linked with the 28 year-old but have not lodged a firm bid but if their interest is serious, the apparent emergence of Palace in the race could force their hand. Martinez has said he will not allow Jelavic to leave on the cheap but has not publicly put a price on the ex-Rangers man's head.

Surely he's worth more than that?
