Everton are interested in Chelsea's Michy Batshuayi, but only if they can have him on a permanent deal, according to Sky sources. The Belgium international is set to return from his loan spell at Valencia this month after struggling to make an impact and Everton are keen to bring him in, if they can unload one of either Cenk Tosun or Oumar Niasse in January. Everton, who already have defender Kurt Zouma on loan from Stamford Bridge, cannot take Batshuayi on loan due to restrictions on the numbers of players one club can have from another. However, they are among those interested in a permanent transfer as Batshuayi looks for his next home, having spent most of his stint at Chelsea away at other clubs, including Borussia Dortmund.

I'm not sure Batshuayi is any better than Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Everton are reportedly looking at Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes. According to A Bola, the Portuguese international is wanted by his fellow countryman Marco Silva to strengthen the Everton midfield. The report suggests that, despite his €100 million (£89.5 million) release clause, he is likely to cost around €40 million (£35.8 million). The 24-year-old, who has 11 caps for Portugal, is undoubtedly a talented player. Good player. Not sure we will be spending that sort of money in this window So many rumours, so little time.

Bournemouth are considering a loan move for Everton's James McCarthy. The proposed transfer is in the very early stages but boss Eddie Howe likes the player and wants cover for the injured Lewis Cook. What's the point in loaning half our squad out? Surely we need to be using these players as part ex's in transfer deals or just sell them?

Loan is safe option
