Everton plot double deal for Dundee United starlets Andrew Robertson and John Souttar 16 Dec 2013 22:30 Left-back Robertson is seen as a long-term replacement for Leighton Baines, while centre-back Souttar has been tracked by a number of English sides The new Baines? The Toffees are tracking Andrew Robertson Mark Runnacles Everton boss Roberto Martinez wants Dundee United left back Andrew Robertson to be the next Leighton Baines. Martinez's spies have their sights on the 19-year-old defender and his even younger team-mate centre-half John Souttar. The Goodison club could do a deal for both United starlets - and loan them back - as they look to invest for the future. Robertson, recently signed from Queen's Park, has caught their eye while they were watching Souttar. Left back Robertson has been one of the stand-out players in Scotland this season with his attacking skills and he is similar to Baines in many ways. Robertson would not be ready to step in for Baines immediately but Martinez sees him as a long-term project like James McCarthy. But Everton want to move fast for the pair and sort out their futures now, although it would be better for them to carry on playing in Scotland.
