Williams' Goodison ExcitementJoe Williams admits he is excited to once again lead out Everton Under-21s at Goodison Park when the young Blues host Manchester City on Monday evening.David Unsworth’s side take on City in a 7pm kick-off, looking to make it three consecutive league wins after triumphs over Norwich City and Chelsea in their last two outings. Those two results have seen the youngsters move up to fourth in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League - and they could leapfrog the Citizens into third with a victory. Liverpool-born Williams, who joined the Club’s Academy aged seven and signed a three-year professional deal in June 2014, says there is a buzz of excitement in the dressing room ahead of the opportunity to play at the iconic stadium. “It means so much to me to be able to lead out the team at Goodison,” he told evertontv. “It means a lot to play there anyway, but to captain the team just makes it that extra bit special for me. “It’s an amazing feeling to just play at Goodison - I get the same feeling now as I did when I played there the first time. It’s difficult to describe the feeling when Z Cars comes on, but it’s a special one and you can’t help but up your game that little bit more. “We’re all massively looking forward to it. Everyone will be there - the manager, all of the coaching staff and hopefully plenty of fans as well, so we know we have to perform well and show what we can do. Hopefully, we can go and get another win because that’s the most important thing at the end of the day.” The Toffees have regularly been forced to overcome tricky conditions in home games at the Merseyrail Community Stadium this campaign, with the pitch at Southport struggling to cope with the adverse weather over the festive period. But the youngsters will play their final two home games of the season at Goodison - and Williams says the pristine surface will help the team showcase their free-flowing football. “It has been difficult to play at Southport at times,” added Williams. “You are constantly trying to take an extra couple of touches to get the ball under control because the pitch hasn’t been in the best condition. But we know that won’t be the case against Man City. “We want to win all of our remaining three games and see how far up the table it takes us. It’s been an unbelievable season for us, particularly when you look at how many of the lads have gone out on loan. There hasn’t always been a massive number to pick from, but we’ve had a really good season and we want to end it on a positive note.” Under-21 forthcoming gamesManchester City Monday 18 April 7pm Leicester City Monday 25 April 7pm Tickets are FREE to 2015/16 Season Ticket Holders and Foreverton members* General Admission prices Adults £5 Concessions /Juniors £3 *To gain free access, please present your 2015/16 Season card or FOREVERTON membership card at the turnstiles.
