Everton FC Rumour Mill: Martinez eyes Finnbogason as Jelavic replacement, Blues scout Dundee United's Souttar, Deulofeu loan may be extended, Coleman Arsenal link9 Dec 2013 10:44 Blues boss Martinez tracking numerous January transfer targets. Everton transfer speculation today sees the Blues weighing up a move for Icelandic striker Alfred Finnbogason – and sell Nikica Jelavic. Reports suggest, boss Roberto Martinez sent his top European spy to watch the prolific hitman, 24, play for Heerenveen yesterday before a £2million auction starts. Finnbogason has been tracked by several Premier League clubs, including West Ham. However Martinez has revved up his chase as he looks to switch strikers and give Romelu Lukaku new cover and competition. Croatian Jelavic needs to play in the second half of the season or his World Cup place could be at risk. Everton have stepped up their move for Dundee United’s 17-year-old centre-half John Souttar. Chief scout Kevin Reeves watched him against Hearts at the weekend. Everton manager Roberto Martinez has revealed that his side have an option to extend Gerard Deulofeu's loan from Barcelona into 2014-15, should the Catalan club allow. The Spanish attacking midfielder netted a late equaliser against Arsenal on Sunday, his second goal since arriving at Goodison Park in the summer, and the Toffees boss hailed the speed of his adaptation to English football. "We have an agreement to extend the loan for an extra year if Barcelona don't need Deulofeu," Martinez told reporters. "He has incredible pace and I've never seen a player so quick with the ball. You've got certain players with raw talent who can create from nothing with a special touch and he is one of them. "I always thought he'd take until February to learn how to deal with the league but he's surprised me. "He's very arrogant in the right way and (Sunday)'s finish is exactly what he deserves." Finally, weekend reports suggest Bacary Sagna’s expected summer departure from Arsenal could see Everton and Republic of Ireland right-back Seamus Coleman replace the Frenchman at the Emirates. No way will we sell Seamus and I don't think we will sell Jelavic either at least not in the next sales unless it's a big offer as we need him. The Deulofeu option is pointless. If a club allow it you can get anybody. If they don't need Messi we can lend him too and maybe Madrid don't need Ronaldo so next year will be terrific.
