There were mixed results for Everton’s loanees over the busy Christmas period. For Ryan Ledson, it was a perfect few days as the young midfielder helped Cambridge United secure a 3-0 Boxing Day win over Everton’s FA Cup third round opponents Dagenham and Redbridge, before completing 90 minutes in a 2-1 victory over Barnet to record their fifth win in six league games. Forward David Henen helped Fleetwood Town earn a 1-1 draw away to Shrewsbury Town as Andy Hunter’s late strike helped the Cod Army clinch a vital point on Boxing Day. The Belgian played 90 minutes in the League One clash, but wasn’t involved when Fleetwood fell to a 3-1 defeat to Wigan Athletic at Highbury Stadium on Monday. Elsewhere, Conor Grant played the full game for Doncaster Rovers as the League One side suffered a 1-0 defeat to Scunthorpe, with defender Felipe Mattioni missing out in the Boxing Day fixture. However, there was more positive news for the two Everton loanees just days later as they both played in Rovers’ 2-1 away win over Oldham Athletic. Grant was impressive throughout and nearly got himself on the scoresheet after 15 minutes when he struck the woodwork with a curling effort following superb individual play. Mattioni, however, played just 31 minutes at Boundary Park before being replaced by Mitchell Lund. Young striker Delial Brewster joined Stockport County on loan on Christmas Eve and the 18-year-old got off to the perfect start when he netted on his debut for the National League One side. His goal, however, wasn’t enough as County suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Harrogate but the striker then helped his side earn a point in a 1-1 draw at Stalybridge. Luke Garbutt played 90 minutes in Fulham’s 2-0 Boxing Day defeat to title-chasing Derby County and the defender is set to be back in action on Tuesday evening when the London side face Rotherham United at Craven Cottage.
