November’s issue of the Everton magazine sees Leighton Baines step up to the plate as cover star. When asked whether he would give us an interview for this edition, the England and Everton left-back agreed, only to issue us with one condition – that it be on music! And while we did manage to squeeze a bit of football talk out of him, the featured article is very much on Baines’ second love. So for those of you after news on the latest releases by the likes of the Artic Monkeys – this magazine is for you! Elsewhere, the publications team were planning on catching up with Everton favourite Adrian Heath, who has been doing big things over in the USL-PRO division out in the States. So when he popped by Finch Farm to see old friends recently, he was more than happy to sit down and chat to the magazine. The former Blues midfielder has led Orlando City to two divisional titles in three years and is currently preparing to become an MLS franchise in 2015. That being said, it is still very much a case of ‘we’ when he speaks about his time at Goodison Park. “It is still ‘we’ because Everton was such a long part of my career,” reflects Heath. “Whenever I come back I get a really good reception at the stadium. The fans appreciate what I did here and that is reciprocated in spades. “Everywhere I’ve gone and everywhere I go, Everton fans have treated me incredibly well and I’ve got my own little group now down in Orlando! There’s about four of us and a little Irish pub round the corner where we try and meet and watch Everton games.” Joining Heath and Baines in this bumper issue is former Doncaster Rovers manager Brian Flynn waxing lyrical about young midfielder John Lundstram, Ladies defender Fern Whelan on her comeback from 21 months out of action an insightful Q&A with assistant boss Graeme Jones. Plus, exclusive an chat with Leon Osman and Tim Howard revealing the five inspirational figures that have shaped his career mean it’s not an edition to be missed. The Everton Magazine is available from all regular local stockists or online here. Annual ubscriptions are also available.
