It was a goalscoring start to life at Doncaster Rovers for Conor Grant this weekend. The Blues midfielder joined the League One side on Thursday and was handed his first start against Colchester United. It took the 20-year-old just 41 minutes to make his mark, netting a stunning strike from outside the box in Donny's 2-0 win. Prior to the game, manager Darren Ferguson had explained why he had recruited Grant on a one-month deal. "He’s a good footballer this boy," he said. "He’s got a lovely left foot on him so he gives you good balance in the team. "He’ll understand straight away how we want to play because we try and play a similar way as Everton do in terms of between the lines and the thirds of the pitch. “He’s more a central midfielder, very good on the ball, composed.” Watch Grant's goal in the video below. Another loaned-out Toffee was also on target on Saturday, as Francisco Junior grabbed a 96th-minute winner for Wigan Athletic. The midfielder burst forward at the right time to prod home a loose ball to clinch a 1-0 victory over Swindon Town at the DW Stadium. Elsewhere, Luke Garbutt was a late substitute for Fulham in their 4-1 win against Bristol City. The Whites scored all of their goals in the first half at Ashton Gate, with the result lifting them to 10th in the Championship. There was no such joy for Conor McAleny and Charlton Athletic, however. The Blues forward was an unused substitute as the Addicks crashed to a 3-0 home defeat against promotion-chasing Middlesbrough. James Graham also remained on the bench for Colwyn Bay as they bowed out of the FA Trophy with a first round defeat at Burscough.
