Everton eye up £1m bid for Dundee United star John Souttar 4 Nov 2013 07:43 THE 17-year-old defender has caught the eye with a series of assured performances and was watched by Everton against Celtic on Saturday with Roberto Martinez keen on driving through a deal. EVERTON boss Roberto Martinez is ready to swoop for Dundee United’s teenage centre-half John Souttar in a £1million deal. Martinez sent top spy Kevin Reeves to watch the 17-year-old against Celtic at the weekend as he paves the way for a bid. Souttar has played only a handful of matches for United but the Scotland Under-19 kid is highly rated with Sunderland already failing in a £600,000 bid to land the player. QPR scout Ian Broomfield also watched Souttar in the 1-1 draw with the Hoops. However, Goodison chief Martinez hopes to drive through a deal quickly. Souttar is contracted until 2016 but United may accept a loan-back arrangement that would see him stay for the rest of this season. Source: Daily Record

I'd rather they stayed playing every week than be taken away from it like we did with Kennedy. Sometimes I think we could benefit from investment in this type of player.
