TEAM NEWSRoberto Martinez admits there is a ‘huge question mark’ over Seamus Coleman who was ruled out of Tuesday’s Capital One Cup tie with a stomach bug. The Irishman has lost weight due to the illness so could be forced to miss the clash with Sunderland.
There is better news for Leighton Baines and Mo Besic, who returned to training on Friday.
Sunderland will make late decisions on John O'Shea, Younes Kaboul and Ola Toivonen, who all suffered injuries in the win over Newcastle last weekend.
Fabio Borini missed that game and is doubtful again with an ankle problem.
FORMThe Black Cats moved off the bottom of the Premier League and above Newcastle United following last weekend’s 3-0 victory over their rivals at the Stadium of Light.
Adam Johnson opened the scoring from the penalty spot just before the interval and second half strikes from Billy Jones and Steven Fletcher sealed the points to give Sam Allardyce his first win as Sunderland boss.
And that victory over the Magpies was much-needed, given they had lost four of their last five league fixtures prior to their win against Steve McClaren’s side.
Everton, meanwhile, will be hoping for all three points on Sunday afternoon following back-to-back Premier League defeats against Manchester United and Arsenal.
CLASSIC MEETINGEverton 7-1 Sunderland, Saturday 24 November 2007
A victory that still stands as Everton’s biggest win over Sunderland, few Evertonians will forget this demolition of the Black Cats.
Yakubu’s early strike got the ball rolling before Tim Cahill’s shot on the turn and Steven Pienaar’s brilliant strike added to the Blues lead.
Dwight Yorke scored for the visitors on the stroke of half-time but any hopes of a comeback were dashed when Cahill netted his second of the game on the hour mark.
Yakubu then made it five before substitute Andrew Johnson (above) and Leon Osman completed the scoring on a memorable afternoon at Goodison Park.
ONE TO WATCH : Yann M’Vila
The 25-year-old began his career with French Ligue 1 side Rennes, progressing into the first team and making over 120 appearances for the club.
Capped 22 times by France, M’Vila spent last season on loan at Italian giants Internazionale from Russian outfit Rubin Kazan before securing another loan spell at Sunderland in August.
And since his move to the Stadium of Light, the French international has been arguably one of the Black Cats’ best additions this season.
M’Vila has showed good form in a Sunderland shirt so far - none more so than in the derby win against Newcastle last weekend.
The defensive midfielder impressed during the 3-0 victory, providing the assist for Sunderland’s second goal of the game and supporters will be hoping for more of the same when they make the trip to Goodison on Sunday.
