I didn't expect to be reading this today and really shocked. Terrible news and my prayers to all who loved him.

Absolutely gutted at this sad news. Howard played a great part as player/coach with us at Stoke during our fight to return to the old First division. I will always remember watching him bossing the midfield for us. He was an inspired signing if ever there was one. He left us to enter his management career and is the one man I would have loved to have been as our manager, but it not to be and eventually he returned home to Everton. He turned down the chance to become England manager for reasons only known to himself. So RIP Mr Kendall. A fine player and Gentleman has gone to join the squad of greats in the hereafter. You are and always will be part of My Stoke's history. "We'll Be With You" Thank You.

Although I'm West Ham , it was Everton I first saw play way back in 1968 , my best childhood friend , Gwilym who is also no longer with us had an Uncle who was a Steward at Goodison - over the years I've been to Goodison many times and saw Howard play on numerous occasions - he was part of the famous Holy Trinity with Alan Ball and Colin Harvey , a great player who turned out to be a great Manager winning an FA Cup , League Champions twice and European Cup Winners Cup - it was a fantastic time to be an Evertonian under Howard . Done Too Soon .

All good things must come to pass. A shame it was Howard and he will be dearly missed.
