Woke up about 6am NZ time and turned the PC on to the Spursv Hull game. 0-0. About 10 secs later, they got a penalty!. Spurs are a lucky side this year. That is the third 1-0 win (via penalties they have had this year). Add the 1-0 victory over Cardiff in injury time and the message that comes out is that they are a team that lacks open play finishing. At the beginning of the season, and after all their buying, I was a bit concerned about this game. Not now. I think we will win this 2-0. Kone to score!! I've just checked the highlights (see the news tab at the bottom) and that penalty was very harsh. The guy is about 6 foot away when the Spurs player strikes it. Maybe his hand is raised, but the ref pointed straight away without the slightest hesitation, which tells me that he was waiting for the opportunity to award something. To have 3 penalties given already is worrying, especially when you consider we haven't had any, yet have had 2 awarded against us. I am terrible for suspicions and conspiracy theories, and will always suspect that the top teams are being ensured their status, while teams like ourselves seem to get big decisions awarded against us and rarely get one given. It's difficult to prove, but you tend to notice it more when it's your rivals. This site is very good for keeping an eye on various elements of the game. It's not been updated yet this week, but there are several years of penalty stats that you can see. www.myfootballfacts.com/Premier_League_Penalty_Statistics.htmlAs for our match against Spurs, it will prove a big game for either side. Both well matched, but recently we've been playing the better football against them for long periods but not scoring. Hopefully we can change that. I'll guess at a 1-1 draw though. To be fair mate last season we didn't have ONE SINGLE penalty home or away, in any compeition, all season!!! I did say I bloody hope that means we get loads this season and we have. If theirs a conspiracy than last season we were the biggest victims, every other team in the league had a penalty except us despite an excpetional number of calls, most of which led to Bale being given a yellow because of his reputation, even at times when it seemed quite obvious that the challenge waranted a red!!! Anyway, quite nervous about the game today. Everton bite us on the arse's quite a bit and as the post on our Spurs forum shows, you've got an exceptionally good home record, especially when you consider that that's from almost two seasons worth of home games. Wouldn't suprise me if that's the best home record in the league over the same period till today. I'm expecting a close game but think it will be either a draw or Everton winning it by one goal. One things for sure, if you lads score 2 we're going to have to improve massivley to get a point!!

Seamus nearly giving away yet another penalty is becoming a defensive liability recently and needs to be more decisive. Our ball retention is a joke and given our inability to compose ourselves it's not surprising all the decisions are going to Spurs. Worst 25 minutes of football I've seen at Goodison.
