West Ham sign Michail Antonio, Victor Moses, Nikica Jelavic and Alex Song
• Antonio sign from Forest on a four-year deal; Jelavic signs two-year deal
• Song back after last season’s loan; Moses arrives despite four-year Chelsea deal
Nikica Jelavic , Victor Moses and Alex Song have all joined West Ham.
West Ham United have made their fourth signing of transfer deadline day by completing a deal for the Nottingham Forest winger Michail Antonio, having already signed the Hull City striker Nikica Jelavic on a two-year deal as well as Victor Moses and Alex Song on season-long loans from Chelsea and Barcelona respectively.
Antonio, who contributed 15 goals for Nottingham Forest last season and scored their late goal in Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Cardiff City, joins on a four-year deal. “I’m buzzing and finally happy to be back in London at a massive club,” Antonio, who will wear No30, told West Ham TV. “I’ve always been around London and I came to a couple of games here when I was younger, so I’m happy to be finally here and at a club I watched when I was younger.”
Moses spent last season on loan at Stoke City, scoring four goals in 23 appearances for the club, and after appearing from the bench in the Community Shield for Chelsea he has signed a new four-year contract with the Blues before agreeing another temporary spell away from Stamford Bridge.
Jelavic is well known to Slaven Bilic, having played under the West Ham manager for Croatia, and arrives for an undisclosed fee. The 30-year-old told the West Ham website: “I am very excited to be signing for West Ham United, especially as it is a big Club and I didn’t know until a couple of days ago that I would have the opportunity to come here.
“Of course it is always a target to play in the Premier League, so when I found out that West Ham wanted me there was no doubt that I wanted to come here.
“I’ve played for Slaven before for the Croatia national team and he is a great manager and a great man. I am really happy and delighted to be working with him and all his staff again. I’ll be joining a team that’s on a high after the result on Saturday.”
Song, 27, joined the Hammers on a season-long loan deal in August 2014, and the London club have again landed the former Arsenal player on loan from the Spanish champions.
The co-owner Gold tweeted: “It has just been confirmed. Alex Song has signed a season-long loan deal to join West Ham. Welcome back Alex.”
He made 31 appearances for West Ham in all competitions last season and earlier this year he announced his international retirement, citing a wish to focus on rebuilding his domestic career.
Song, who joined Barcelona for £15m from Arsenal in August 2012, made 65 appearances for the Catalan side before his first loan switch to the Hammers in 2014.
Song and Moses are West Ham’s eighth and ninth arrival during the transfer window, joining Song, the goalkeeper Darren Randolph, defenders Angelo Ogbonna and Carl Jenkinson and midfielders Pedro Obiang, Dimitri Payet, Manuel Lanzini and George Dobson at Slaven Bilic’s team.
Song is pleased to be returning to Upton Park for a second spell. “I am very happy,” he told whufc.com. “When I left I didn’t know I would come back here.
“It was not easy but at the end of the day, the most important thing is I’m here now and I’m very happy. I feel at home, everything feels at home, for my family too, they’re set up very well here. My kids are playing for West Ham academy.
“Everything was in a good place for me to come back here and I’m very happy to be here. It’s a pleasure and it’s like I never left here. I’m still here and I’m happy.”
