All four of Everton’s loan players were in action over the weekend. Jordan Thorniley and Calum Dyson helped Stockport County earn a point against second-placed Nuneaton Town in the Vanarama National League North on Saturday. The Blues duo both played the full 90 minutes at Liberty Way as the Hatters maintained their unbeaten start to the new campaign with a 1-1 draw which kept them third in the table. Top goalscorer Dyson almost handed Stockport the lead before the break as a speculative long-range effort was tipped onto the crossbar. Dyson, 18, has two goals to his name so far this season while defender Thorniley has started all of Stockport’s games. Elsewhere, Jonjoe Kenny came off the bench to put in a bright display for Wigan Athletic but couldn’t help them prevent a 2-0 defeat against Gillingham in League One. Kenny replaced Kevin McNaughton at right wing-back shortly before the interval and he almost contributed towards putting Wigan on the scoresheet by delivering a cross which Will Grigg was unable to convert. Fellow Blues loanee Francisco Junior extended his loan spell with the Latics in midweek after an impressive start and the former Portugal Under-21 international played 46 minutes before being substituted for Sean Murray.
