Calum Dyson scored his second goal in a week to help Stockport County maintain their 100 per cent winning start to the new season. The Everton youngster followed up from his first strike for the Hatters against FC United of Manchester last Tuesday with a coolly-taken winner on Saturday in their 1-0 victory over AFC Telford United. Dyson converted Dan Morton’s cross in the first half to hand Stockport the three points, with fellow Blues loanee Jordan Thorniley producing a solid display at the back as Telford piled the pressure on in the second half. Elsewhere, duo Jonjoe Kenny and Francisco Junior made their home debuts as Wigan Athletic opened up their League One home campaign with a 0-0 draw against Doncaster Rovers. Kenny, 18, and Junior, 23, were brought into the side after sitting out of the Latics’ 2-1 defeat against Bury in the Capital One Cup in midweek. Junior caught the eye for the hosts alongside Max Power in midfield and almost got his name on the scoresheet when firing just wide of Rovers keeper Thorsten Stuckmann in the first half, before being replaced after 54 minutes by Shaq Coulthirst. Defender Kenny played the full 90 minutes for Gary Caldwell’s side while Luke Garbutt, who has joined Fulham on a season-long loan, missed the London club’s 2-1 defeat against Brighton as he recovers from an ankle ligament injury.
