Everton will join the battle for Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka as they prepare to race Italian giants Inter Milan to land the rising star. Reports in Switzerland suggest both sides will fight it out to sign the 21-year-old Borussia Monchengladbach star who has played seven of their eight league games this season. Having been impressed with his performance in Switzerland’s 2-1 victory over Albania on Friday night, Everton and Inter will take their interest further when the January transfer window comes around, Infoticker.ch reports. Despite being just 21, Xhaka has represented Switzerland 20 times and made a £7.2million move from FC Basel to Gladbach last year. The Express reveal that the youngster still has four years on his contract and it will take a fairly substantial offer to prize him away from the Bundesliga club. A year ago, then Basel and now Hamburg manager Thomas Fink described the youngster as the best talent Switzerland have to offer. "Xherdan Shaqiri is the best talent in Switzerland...after Granit Xhaka," said Fink.

If he has only just signed and is getting games, isn't it unlikely he will want to move? Sounds promising as a player though.
