Everton Ladies duo Paige Williams and Jess King visited Lucozade Powerleague near Goodison Park on Tuesday to support the Women Against Domestic Abuse Cup. The Blues pair united with Liverpool Ladies’ Natasha Dowie and Becky Easton, as well as local female crisis centres, domestic abuse units and football teams to raise awareness of domestic abuse and promote the positive side of getting involved in football. Club Ambassador Graham Stuart and Councillor Ann O’Byrne were also in attendance at the third annual tournament, organised by Liverpool Homeless Football Club and the Liverpool County FA, to support the campaign and present medals to all the participants. A notable award recipient was Everton in the Community’s Poppy Comer, who was named Manager of the Season for her role as coach of Liverpool Homeless Football Club. Speaking of her participation in the event, Toffees star Williams said: “I think we can show all women that football can be a way of expressing yourself and something that can enable you to socialise with your friends, as well as acting as a stress relief. “Both Jess and I, along with two Liverpool Ladies players, have come here today to show our support and we are really happy that the girls can look up to us for inspiration. We want to inspire people to play football. “No matter what your ability, there is a playing field out there for everyone who wants to play.”
