Everton Ladies manager Andy Spence says his team must use the mid-season break wisely and make improvements for the second half of the campaign. The Blue Girls’ season stops for six weeks because of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada, with their next match coming away at Yeovil Ladies on 12 July. Following Sunday’s convincing 3-0 win over Watford, Everton sit in fourth spot in the league table, seven points off both Reading Women and Doncaster Rovers Belles, the sides currently occupying the second tier’s two promotions places. Everton’s goals came through Paige Williams, Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah and Michelle Hinnigan as they eased to victory at the Select Security Stadium. And Spence told evertonfc.com: "We are pleased to come away with the three points, three goals and a clean sheet, which is the first time this year we have kept a clean sheet. That's a pleasing aspect of the performance. “It was clear we dominated the game in terms of possession of the ball and I thought in the first 15 minutes of the first half we played particularly well. “Obviously fourth is not the position we are all striving for but it leaves us in a position to reflect on what we have done well in the first half of the season and what we need to do better in the second half. “It's a crucial time now and we need to make sure we're ready for 12 July to go again.” While Spence will be using the time at his disposal to anaylse and assess his own side, he explained how he will also be watching as much of the World Cup as possible once it kicks off on Saturday. “It is always great to watch and it's got some fantastic coverage, so I'll always be watching," he said. "You're always learning watching games. It will be a really good spectacle and a fantastic tournament.”
