Noel Gallagher will once again dabble in football punditry as a guest on the BBC’s Match of the Day 2 this weekend. The former Oasis lead guitartist and Manchester City fan interviewed the then City striker Mario Balotelli for Football Focus in 2012, and will appear on Sunday night’s programme to discuss Tottenham v West Ham, Everton v Leicester and Southampton v Liverpool. Gallagher, who is preparing to release his second solo album, will also front a feature on City’s match against Newcastle, which takes places on Saturday evening. It is rare for Match of the Day to feature pundits who are not former footballers, although the West Ham fan Russell Brand appeared last season to promote Sport Relief and, in 1994, the Fantasy Football League presenters Frank Skinner and David Baddiel also took part. The main question with Gallagher might be whether his usually strong language is as blue as City’s shirts. Source: Guardian
