There were mixed emotions for Conor Grant as he made his Motherwell debut at the weekend.
The midfielder joined the Scottish Premier League outfit on deadline day of the January transfer window and netted a fine free-kick and provided an assist against Ross County.
Unfortunately, 'Well were on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline and Grant admitted it was a bittersweet day.
"I'm obviously happy with the goal, but the three points are the most important thing and we couldn't get that so it's very disappointing," he said.
"I thought we started the game quite well, we were on the front foot. They've hit us with a good goal and it's knocked us back a bit. We came back into the game well and I thought once we got the goal we were going to go on.
"But we've conceded two sloppy goals and we need to be better defensively."
"It was very frustrating. We wanted to build and try and get the second, but obviously we needed to stay in the game longer, maybe another 10 minutes, and try to push on. Unfortunately we conceded early.
"It's the first game I've come in for. Obviously it's never nice to lose any game, but this one even more so."
Meanwhile, Conor McAleny played the first 68 minutes of Cardiff City's contest with Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday.
The Blues forward has gone straight into Russell Slade's side, but was unable to follow up an impressive debut by aiding a breakthrough in South Wales as the game ended 0-0.
Chris Long was a second-half substitute in the London derby between his loan side Brentford and Charlton Athletic.
However, the Bees were already 2-0 down at the Valley when the Everton teenager emerged from the bench on 59 minutes and the Addicks netted a third in stoppage time.
Ben McLaughlin endured an eventful Valentine's Day as AFC Telford United were left heartbroken in injury time.
The young right-back played the full 90 minutes of Saturday's agonising 3-2 home defeat to Dartford.
After going behind to Andy Pugh's first-half goal, the hosts levelled from the spot through Tony Gray.
Telford were reduced to 10 men after the break before Pugh grabbed his second, but looked to have salvaged a point when Danny Ventre struck late on.
But the Telford midfielder then put through his own net in the 92nd minute before Pugh added a red card to his brace.
There was another five-goal thriller at Chesterfield on the same day, but John Lundstram missed out on Leyton Orient's 3-2 victory.
And there was no action for Matthew Pennington or Coventry City at the weekend, but they secured a vital point on Tuesday evening.
The Sky Blues were trailing Scunthorpe United at home for much of the contest, but Marcus Tudgay's injury-time strike means they now sit four points above the League One relegation places.
