It is a bit daft, to say the least, that players can do cartwheels, back flips or other potentially self-injuring(?) displays of emotion but not remove their shirts. I suppose there ARE times and places where big celebrations could possibly, on a bad day, cause a bit of a fracas but generally it's the goal that really upsets people not the celebration. On the embarrassingly few afternoons when I did get myself on the score-sheet ( average 0.75 goals per season, highest season total 1977-78 =4), I tended to just wander back with a silly grin on my face....... Kicking the ball away is another daft way to get a card and I wish Refs would try to tell the difference between letting out a bit of frustration and blatant time-wasting. Kicking the ball away and getting a yellow for it is a stupid way of getting a card. I do think some refs know that giving a card for it is stupid but they're under strict directives so they give it anyway. Football is being run by a bunch of idiots.

Refs seem to turn a blind eye to things when it suits them.

Refs seem to turn a blind eye to things when it suits them. Yeah, when it suits them....no consistency is the problem and when the effects are looked at across all the games played on a given matchday, it often leaves a sense that some clubs 'get away' with a lot more than others. And it's not just the 'silly' bookings where this 'when it suits' attitude rears it's head. We've also got this erratic application of the laws to fouls, where something that would be a foul outside the box becomes not a foul in it....and with some Refs it's even the other way around! I like to see Refs use common sense to make sure that the SPIRIT of the laws are enforced rather than the LETTER of the law and providing there is some sort of consistency in how individual officials apply this, it doesn't matter too much if the Refs, individually, take a slightly differing approach because teams will still know what to expect from each of them.

I want to see the women footballers do it more often.

There should be more scope for celebrations in football, and often there are no goals at all. The rule should be changed as it does no harm.
