Should players get booked for celebrating goals? Is the whole purpose of a match to provide entertainment for the crowds? If players must be booked, should harsher punishments come in to play for 'blatantly' ignoring the rules?  |

I think that rule is ridiculous. The premiership authorities are so scared of hooliganism that they think players will incite a riot just because they celebrate. Stupid!  |

Why does a player want to take his shirt off anyway?
I have to say I don't get that celebration, but then I look much better with my shirt on I suppose.

It is a bit daft, to say the least, that players can do cartwheels, back flips or other potentially self-injuring(?) displays of emotion but not remove their shirts. I suppose there ARE times and places where big celebrations  could possibly, on a bad day, cause a bit of a fracas but generally it's the goal that really upsets people not the celebration. On the embarrassingly few afternoons when I did get myself on the score-sheet ( average 0.75 goals per season, highest season total 1977-78 =4), I tended to just wander back with a silly grin on my face.......  Kicking the ball away is another daft way to get a card and I wish Refs would try to tell the difference between letting out a bit of frustration and blatant time-wasting. |
