In-demand West Brom striker Saido Berahino will be sold in the January transfer window if the Premier League strugglers receive a bid in excess of £20million, Sky sources understand.
Talks regarding a new contract at the Hawthorns for the 21-year-old were temporarily put on hold before Christmas, and Baggies technical director Terry Burton says that the final decision on Berahino’s future will now rest in the hands of new head coach Tony Pulis. However, it is believed that West Brom have not as yet had any offers for the England Under-21 international, whose contract runs until the summer of 2017. Both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked in recent weeks with Berahino, who has scored eight goals in 20 Premier League games this season. But while it is thought the Merseysiders remain interested in the diminutive forward, the Gunners have distanced themselves from the player of late. And with Berahino having netted four times in West Brom’s 7-0 thrashing of Gateshead in the FA Cup third round on Saturday, there is a feeling that Pulis now wants the player to stay at the club and aid their fight against relegation between now and the end of the campaign.
