Western Sydney Wanderers chairman Paul Lederer says he will not stop Tony Popovic from quitting the club to take charge of Crystal Palace.
The former Eagles defender, currently boss of the A-League side, is being linked with the managerial vacancy at Selhurst Park following Neil Warnock’s departure.
And Lederer insists he will not stand in the 41-year-old’s way should the Premier League side come calling.
"Absolutely. If he was bettering himself and went to the EPL and he got the top job, I'd be wishing him all the best and good luck to him," Lederer said in the Sydney Morning Herald.
There has been no confirmation of an approach from Palace as of yet for Popovic, with Alan Pardew also being heavily linked with job, and Lederer is awaiting talks with his manager.
"I'm absolutely sure we'll be discussing it," said Lederer. "It could be as early as tomorrow or the day after, we'll certainly be discussing it."
Popovic played for Palace between 2001 and 2006 and also served as an assistant to former manager Dougie Freedman in 2012.
Since then he has been in charge of Sydney, guiding them to the A-League title and more impressively the AFC Champions League crown.

Bit daft sacking a manager and not having a replacement. Daft is fast becoming a speciallity at Palace.....there's never been an excess of common-sense in SE24, at least not since the late 60's. Whoever gets the job, 75% of Palace fans will think HIM?
