Righty oh, a couple of MAJOR rumours...
First, that we've signed Alan Pardew on a 3 year deal...£5m compensation to Newcastle....hope this doesn't happen as he does not represent the sort of character that most Palace folk would want as the 'face' of the club. If we were relegated with him, we'd stay down ( a big consideration when choosing a manager in these circumstances- if we go down, can he get us back up?) and I doubt his ability to get our squad playing for him once he's spent the first few weeks sussing out the wags and who's knickers he can get into.....
Second, Jurgan Klopp has just resigned from Dortmund. Mad as a hatter but used to our style of football and full of enthusiasm. Would appreciate our fans, coming from the German game and would be a truely fantastic appointment.....we can but hope that Steve Parish sees the possibilities. And if we cannot get Jurgan, maybe we could get his brother Klipperty?

I don't use Twitter but according to what I'm reading on the Holmsdale.net, there's loads of tweets saying it's a done deal with Pardew, including something from Stan Collymore....not that that makes me any more confident in the veracity of the rumour. So, Pulis to Newcastle and Pardew to Palace. At least this means Pulis will not be guiding one of Palace's relegation rivals to safety ( I'm trying to look on the bright side) but I have a feeling this will end badly for Palace.

So I tell you that you're getting Pardew, and then you report the rumour.

So I tell you that you're getting Pardew, and then you report the rumour. Yeah, OK, but it, at the time, looked like a wind-up....and it does again at the moment as there's been no announcement. Funny game, football.

MILLEN WANTS THE JOB:
Speaking after yesterday's game, caretaker Manager Keith Millen told reporters:
“I’ve got to give the lads a load of credit for a battling performance. I thought we stood up to QPR fantastically. We were all shocked by what happened yesterday but I’ve seen the lads’ resilience and I had no doubt they’d show up. We deserved at least a point.
“If we can continue like that, we’ll be OK. We need to score more goals, but if we keep that organisation, we’ll be OK.”
“I’m ready for it, I think the players respect me. I’ve done it enough times, I’ve managed before and I enjoy working for the club.
“The chairman may feel he needs more experience or wants to see what names are available because it’s a vital time now.
“It’s about respect. I respect the players and what they’re about and hopefully they respect me for my knowledge and hard work with them.
“You do have to detach yourself from the players as a manager but also, with Premier League players, you have to make sure they understand what you want from them.
“They’re big characters at this level and you have to get the best out of them.
“There’s respect there between myself and them, I’ve worked with them for two and a half years and we’ve been successful.”
“I don’t know how long I’ll be in charge for, I have not been told I’ve got a chance and I haven’t spoken to the chairman about myself.
“He came to see the players before the game and wished them all the best but that is not a conversation to have on the day of a game.
“I’m sure I’ll speak to him tomorrow, he knows what direction he wants to take the club and what I bring to this group of players. I know what makes them tick and what brings the best out of them.
“It’s down to the chairman to make that decision. He has the confidence in me to continue taking the team until he makes the right appointment.”
It's only a lack of experience that makes him a questionable candidate....the side performs well under Millen, he stopped the rot after Holloway's departure and he's doing it again now. Worth pointing out that the last three managers to visit Loftus Rd came away with nothing while Millen got a point. I'd certainly prefer him to 75% of the other names being touted around.
