It is set to be a busy week on the international front with 11 Everton first-team players called up by their respective countries.Leighton Baines, Phil Jagielka and Ross Barkley, who returns to the England squad after recovering from a knee injury, are included in Roy Hodgson’s squad to take on Slovenia in a Euro 2016 qualifier and Scotland in a friendly.
The Three Lions host Slovenia at Wembley on Saturday evening before heading north of the border for the first time in 15 years to take on Steven Naismith’s Scotland at Celtic Park.
It could well be the second time Naismith faces Blues teammates in the space of five days as Gordon Strachan’s side also play host to the Republic of Ireland on Friday.
Everton quartet Seamus Coleman, Aiden McGeady, Darron Gibson and James McCarthy were included in Martin O’Neill’s initial squad announced last month, though McCarthy will be assessed in Dublin after picking up an injury against Sunderland on Sunday.
The Republic of Ireland will then head to Dublin to play the USA in a friendly at the Aviva Stadium on Tuesday.
Romelu Lukaku will head home to Belgium as the Red Devils play Iceland in a friendly on Wednesday before meeting Wales in Brussels for a Euro 2016 qualifier on Sunday.
Muhamed Besic is also involved in a Euro 2016 qualifier as Bosnia and Herzegovina travel to Israel in the Group B clash.
Elsewhere, Christian Atsu has been included in Ghana’s squad for the African Cup Of Nations qualifiers against Uganda and Togo.
There is Under-21 action for England’s Luke Garbutt, who could play in friendlies against Portugal and France, and Republic of Ireland’s Sam Byrne, who will travel to Spain for fixtures against USA and Russia.
And there are also call-ups for many of the Blues' academy players with Brendan Galloway and Russell Griffiths selected for England's Under-19s, while Callum Connolly, Ryan Ledson and Liam Walsh have been selected for the Under-18s and Tom Davies, Nathan Holland and James Yates for the Under-17s.
Harry Charsley will represent Republic of Ireland's Under-19s and James Graham has been selected for Wales' Under-19 squad.
