Fazio delighted to join 'great' Tottenham Hotspur Central defender becomes Spurs' fifth summer signing after agreeing four-year deal Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of defender Federico Fazio from Sevilla for an undisclosed fee. The 27-year-old centre-half, who won Olympic gold for Argentina in Beijing in 2008, becomes Tottenham Hotspur's fifth summer signing after agreeing a four-year contract. He is a replacement in Spurs' defence for Michael Dawson, who joined Hull City 24 hours earlier. "I know Spurs is a historic club in this country and league," he told www.tottenhamhotspur.com. "This is a great club and I am very happy to be here." Fazio joined Sevilla in 2007 and made 194 appearances for the La Liga side, helping the club win the UEFA Europa League title in May. He joins a club who have made an impressive start to the 2014/15 Barclays Premier League campaign, winning against West Ham United and Queens Park Rangers without conceding a goal. Their next match is against Liverpool at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon. The other signings made by new head coach Mauricio Pochettino are Ben Davies, Michel Vorm (both Swansea City), Eric Dier (Sporting Lisbon) and DeAndre Yedlin (Seattle Sounders).
