Everton Women have completed the signing of 24-year-old prolific France international striker Valerie Gauvin, who ends a six-year spell at Montpellier. Gauvin was on target as France knocked Brazil out of last summer’s World Cup and scored 14 goals in 16 appearances in the French top flight. Head coach Willie Kirk’told evertonfc.com: “Signing Valerie is a real coup for the club and a sign of our ambition. “For me, she is already one of the top strikers in Europe and taking into account her age and mindset, she will continue to get even better, and I’m delighted to be part of that future development. “She is going to add a focal point to our attack and will be an important part of what is now a very exciting squad that we have put together. “Sarvar (Ismailov, Everton Women Sporting Director) has worked tirelessly to get this deal done, and it shows his commitment and ambition to the club with what we want to achieve here.”

Everton striker Valerie Gauvin is likely to be out until at least Christmas with a muscle injury.
France international Gauvin, 24, joined in August on a three-year deal and has scored three goals in five WSL games.
She also scored in the Women's FA Cup final defeat by Manchester City at Wembley earlier this month.
"I don't think we'll see Valerie before Christmas, which is a shame," Everton boss Willie Kirk said. "She's picked up a muscle injury we need to look after."

Valérie Gauvin has completed a transfer from Everton to USA club North Carolina Courage for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.
The 25-year-old France international striker moves to the National Women’s Soccer League side after two seasons with the Blues.
Gauvin joined Everton in August 2020 from Montpellier and, the following month, scored the winner in the Toffees’ 2-1 FA Cup quarter-final win against Chelsea at Goodison Park as the team went on to finish runners-up in the competition.
Everton would like to thank Valérie for her service and everyone at the Club wishes her success for the future.
