Steven Naismith has hailed new Everton FC signing Muhamed Besic and believes Blues fans will get to see the very best of the Bosnian in the long term. Like a lot of others, Besic first came to the Scot’s attention during the Fifa World Cup in Brazil and, having been impressed with the 21-year-old while watching on television, Naismith says he is even more impressive in the flesh. He told the ECHO in Bangkok: “To be honest I only saw him at the World Cup and that’s where I noticed him, and that was before Everton were linked with him. “He was a player that looked very comfortable at that stage and for a young guy who probably hasn’t had a long international career then it was a great start for him. “Having spoken to him over the last couple of days he is a very intelligent young man in terms of speaking very well and has really integrated into the group. “It’s not as if he is stand off-ish and been out of it. I’m looking forward to seeing more of him in training.” Naismith believes that the Bosnian will benefit from the forward thinking style of management at Goodison Park and says that Everton fans could be impressed for years to come with their new £4m signing. “Give him time for that but he’s signed a long-term contract so we will see him in here for a few years and show the fans what he can do,” he explained. “I think he will. It gives him time to get to know how the manager works, another one like that is Darron Gibson, He’s another one who will be learning more than anybody to get into the way the manager wants to play.” It is no secret that the way the manager plays has made an impression on the 27-year-old Scottish international, and he says that with one or two more new faces, the Blues are ready not only to kick on - but to make their mark in Europe next season too. He said: “The manager said straight from the off that he wants to add to the squad and I think we do need to. “We did fantastic last season but there were times when we were down to the bare bones and now that we’re in Europe we need to strengthen. “I’m sure the manager will get the right targets.”
