Willie Kirk has been named Women’s Super League Manager of the Month after steering Everton Women to maximum points during November. The Blues boasted a 100 per cent league record last month following the memorable 1-0 win against neighbours Liverpool at Anfield and 3-1 home success over Tottenham Hotspur. Everton have made encouraging progress during the first half of the WSL season, sitting well-placed in fifth position having won five of their opening eight matches. Kirk was joined at USM Finch Farm by his players and backroom staff when receiving his award from sponsors Barclays– and he highlighted the collective effort within the group as a contributing factor behind the team’s early-season form. “We have got a lot of expertise in the backroom staff and I try to give them accountability and responsibility to do what they are good at,” said Kirk. “The backroom staff help to make sure everyone is together and it is a very well-oiled machine. “I’ve been vocal since the start of the season that we want to finish in the top half. That’s still the case and we have put ourselves in a very good position to do that. We’ve given ourselves a great position to build on in the second half of the season. “We will continue to work hard to reach that objective.”
