Russell Griffiths has thanked the support he has received from Everton’s coaches after signing his first professional deal with the Club. The 18-year-old shot-stopper hailed the relationship he enjoys with the coaches who have helped to develop him since joining the club four years ago. “I’ve been really happy with my development since I have been here,” he told evertontv. “The club give you bags of confidence and you need that to get better. “I have a good relationship with Kevin O’Brien, the Academy goalkeeping coach and Kevin Sheedy – they have been great, as was Alan Irvine before he sadly left.” After a successful season with the Under-18s, Griffiths is now targeting a regular role with the Under-21s this season as a reward for his efforts. “Last season was a great one after winning the Under-18s title,” explained Griffiths. “Hopefully now I can push on and help win the Under-21s league. “My personal aims are to play consistently for the Under-21s but knowing the manager will always give you a chance, I would love to try and get on the bench or even turn out for the first team.” You can catch Griffiths in action this weekend as the Under-21s travel to the Corbett Sports Stadium on Saturday to take on Rhyl
