Roberto Martinez: We're still working on deals for Romelu Lukaku and Muhamed Besic

Blues boss says fans will be 'first to know' when there is something to report



Roberto Martinez says Everton are still working on deals to bring Romelu Lukaku and Muhamed Besic to the club.

The Blues have made Chelsea forward Lukaku their number one transfer target this summer while Martinez is also pursuing Besic following his performances at the World Cup in Brazil.

Martinez expected the chase for Lukaku’s signature would be a long one but Everton had last week been hopeful of tying up a deal for Bosina midfielder Besic.

However the Everton manager says there is currently nothing more to report on their interest in the pair.

“At the moment there is nothing to report,” Martinez said after Tuesday night’s draw with Tranmere Rovers.

“We know exactly who we want to bring in and games like last night were important because I want to give the youngsters as much opportunity as I can and then make the final decisions on the areas we strengthen in.

“This season, we need to make sure the numbers in the squad are bigger but at the moment there is nothing to update our fans and when there is, they will be the first ones to know.”
