Everton striker Shani Tarashaj has not featured for loan club FC Emmen in four months due to 'heavy flu'. Tarashaj, 25, completed a move to the Eredivisie outfit during the summer but is yet to make a first-team appearance. He has been handed two outings in the Eredivisie Reserve Cup but after scoring in the 4-1 rout of SC Cambuur in November was struck down by a reported influenza. In a statement posted to their club website in January, Emmen wrote: "Shani is working hard on his ability to work after a lot of injuries in the past. "Before the winter break, the road to the top seemed to have started, but private circumstances and a heavy flu threw a spanner in the works. He is now back on the road to join the group training." Never played a single game for us that I can remember since Roberto Martinez signed him.

Shani Tarashaj returns to Everton prematurely as his two-year spell with FC Emmen is cut short. The Swiss forward has never played for the Toffees.
Shani Tarashaj is back at Everton, according to the Liverpool Echo. The Swiss forward is supposed to be in the second year of a two-year loan deal with FC Emmen. But after failing to record a single appearance for the side, they’ve ended the arrangement. The 25-year-old will return to Goodison Park – a place he’s never actually played, either.
Emmen explained that the decision was purely down to his injury record in a statement.
This comes just a couple of months after reports that Everton had extended Tarashaj’s contract specifically for this loan move. They re-negotiated the deal back in 2019, ahead of his move to Emmen.
In doing so, they extended his contract to 2021. That allowed Emmen to loan him for two years and spread his wages over that spell. You’d have to assume, then, that Tarashaj cut his wages in half and added an extra year.
