Sky Sports had an update on the Romelu Lukaku situation earlier Saturday, and in that update they made mention of another Chelsea player Everton had interest in as well. Here's what they had to say about Christian Atsu, who spent last season in the Eredivisie: Roberto Martinez has made it clear he would like Lukaku to return to Goodison Park, and Everton have also enquired about Chelsea winger Christian Atsu. The Ghana international spent last season on loan at Vitesse Arnhem in Holland before going to the World Cup, and Chelsea could sanction another temporary move. Sky sources close to Atsu have indicated he would welcome the chance to join Everton. Everton would seem a solid destination for Atsu, who was excellent for Vitesse last season before impressing at the World Cup. There's likely to be a ton of interest from Premier League sides looking for versatile attacking options, and given the style of football he likes to use combined with his track record with young talent, Roberto Martinez and Everton are easily one of the best potential destinations out there. Because of that, I don't think that I'll be alone in crossing my fingers that an Atsu loan to Everton materializes.

This guy's ready for the PL in my opinion and I'd love to see him at Everton under Martinez.

Ghana go: Chelsea will loan Christian Atsu out again this season - but where?Chelsea have urged World Cup winger Christian Atsu to choose the loan club that gives him the best chance of breaking into their new-look team in 12 months’ time. West Ham, Aston Villa and Everton are among 15 clubs interested in borrowing the 22-year-old Ghanaian from the Stamford Bridge side. Others include Celtic, and further afield Spain's Espanyol, PSV Eindhoven of Holland and German side Hamburg are keen. Atsu arrives back in London following his post-World Cup holiday on Monday. He will meet with the clubs in whom he is most interested early next week before making a decision. Ironically, Everton’s interest hinges on the club making a decision over another Chelsea player, Romelu Lukaku. The Toffees are holding out for the Belgium marksman after he shone on loan with them last season, but cannot take two players on loan from the same Premier League side. A number of clubs have approached Chelsea directly to push for a deal on Atsu. They have been ruled out, however, as they cannot commit to guaranteeing the player enough playing time - which the Londoners are stipulating in any loan deal. Atsu, who enjoyed an impressive World Cup, was signed from Portugal's Porto on deadline day last summer and immediately loaned to Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem, where he scored five goals in 28 appearances.

I need to make a point here though, and state that we are looking to challenge for the top 4 places, and even the league title, and we're not going to do this by piling our hopes on loaning players that are not good enough to play for our rivals.
We should be identifying our own targets, and ensuring that when the likes of Chelsea come to play us, they face our best 11 players.
