Everton’s Nico Hansen has his father and brother to thank for being at Goodison Park, according to a report by the Liverpool Echo.
The 17-year-old goalkeeper recently signed a professional deal with the Toffees after completing a two-year scholarship programme with the club.
But he was not the player the Premier League side were initially interested in acquiring.
Hansen’s brother, Luca, was spotted in action back in 2014 and was originally asked to have a trial at Everton.
However, the duo’s father asked if the shot-stopper could also have an opportunity to show what he can do and seemingly impressed when they arrived at Finch Farm in 2015. Everton is not the only club in Merseyside Hansen has had the chance to play for, with Liverpool having handed him a trial, however, it appears he is settled down for life at Goodison Park instead.
Speaking about his decision to sign a new contract with the Toffees, he revealed he was looking forward to the future and was prepared to work as hard as possible. “Signing this deal is a proud moment for me and my family,” he said. “It’s everything I’ve been working towards these past two years.
“Since I first arrived here, it’s been fantastic. It’s been like a family. It’s a great environment to be in and everyone is so supportive. Now I just want to repay the support the club has shown in me by becoming the best goalkeeper I can be.”
