Aston Villa have been promoted to the Premier League after beating Derby County in the Championship play-off final. Villa, who lost last season's play-off final, are back in the top flight after three years in the second tier. Anwar El Ghazi diverted Ahmed Elmohamady's cross into the net to give Villa a half-time lead at Wembley and John McGinn nipped in ahead of Derby goalkeeper Kelle Roos to add Villa's second. Derby substitute Jack Marriott fired in with eight minutes remaining to give the Rams hope, but Villa held on for a win that is estimated to be worth at least £170m in added revenue according to financial experts Deloitte. The Rams, meanwhile, have been consigned to a 12th consecutive season in the Championship.
