George Green hopes an injury-free season can help him make the next step up in his development.
The attacker impressed for both the Under-18s and Under-21s last term, but a slight complaint kept him out of the run-in.
In total, he made seven starts and five substitute appearances for the second-string in between notching 15 goals in 25 league and Youth Cup run-outs for the Under-18s - many as captain.
Injury ruled Green out of the final game of the season, where Kevin Sheedy's side were crowned national league champions with a 1-0 victory over Manchester City at Goodison Park.
Yet having now fully recovered from those niggles, the 18-year-old says he feels fitter this summer than he had in recent years.
"I'm loving it at the moment," he exclusively told evertontv at the young Blues' pre-season training camp in Austria.
"Training has been hard and different, but I feel as if I expected it to be harder because of previous years. I've come back more prepared this year than I have done in the past. I'm feeling really fresh and fit.
"I thought last season went well with the Under-18s winning the Premier League. I had an injury when I thought I was reaching my peak with how I was playing, so it was tough to come back. I lost a lot of fitness."
The Bradford-born youngster is now hoping to put that disappointment behind him.
Speaking shortly after avoiding another bout of forfeit sprints from pre-season training games, Green admits the competitive element incorporated from the first day this summer is driving him on to reach his goals.
He added: "We're coming to a stage in our career now where winning is vital and to win things you go further, especially in training.
"No one wants to do those 30-second runs!
"This year I don't want any injuries. I want to get involved and crack on. I want to be playing regularly for the Under-21s.
"I'd maybe like to go out on loan to experience first-team football elsewhere and hopefully come back and be around the first-team, which is probably what all the lads want to do."
