Everton Remember Ahead Of Brighton Clash Everton paid its respects to the war fallen before Saturday afternoon's Premier League encounter with Brighton & Hove Albion, while chairman Bill Kenwright and Major Shareholder Farhad Moshiri laid a wreath in memory of Leicester City chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and the four others who tragically lost their lives in a helicopter accident at the Foxes' King Power stadium last weekend. The meeting with Brighton marked the Club's annual Remembrance fixture and saw poppies stitched into the shirts of both teams. The tribute began when Dave Curtis, project co-ordinator for Everton in the Community's Knowsley Veterans' Hub, was joined pitchside by three serving military personnel. The two team captains laid wreaths in the centre circle ahead of kick off, before Mr Kenwright and Mr Moshiri added a ring of flowers in Leicester's blue and white colours to the tribute. A bugler then performed the Last Post during an impeccably observed period of silence, as images of Mr Srivaddhanaprabha and Everton players who lost their lives during both World Wars appeared on the stadium's big screens. This year marks the centenary of the end of the First World War. In the week leading up to today's fixture – which is the Blues' closest to Remembrance Sunday on November 11 – Toffees defenders Michael Keane and Jonjoe Kenny joined veterans at the Club's Blue Base facility to help plant 11 tress in honour of the 11 Everton footballers who lost their lives in World War One.
