Everton FC Have completed the permanent signing of Gareth Barry after agreeing a three-year deal with the influential midfielder.
Roberto Martinez had made retaining the services of the 33-year-old one of his summer transfer priorities, after he became a resounding hit on loan at Goodison last term.
Barry made 32 appearances for the Blues as he resurrected his career on Merseyside, and was wanted by several clubs after he formally became a free agent in May when his Manchester City contract expired.
The ECHO understands the Toffees have paid around £1m to City in order to get their man, as per an agreement when they initially took him on loan last summer.
And they have persuaded the former England international, who had more lucrative offers elsewhere, to commit to Martinez's vision of turning Everton into a Champions League club.
Martinez will now turn to strengthening other areas of his squad, and is expected to tie up a deal for MK Dons highly-rated 18-year-old Brendan Galloway within the next 24 hours.

Not sure on this deal. 2m plus near 3m a year wages for a 33yr old seems a lot of money
