England teammate Frank Lampard has commended the way Ross Barkley has conducted himself at the World Cup - praising the youngster's attitude during his time in Brazil. The duo played alongside each other in Tuesday’s goalless stalemate against Costa Rica, though Barkley is seen by many as a long-term successor to the 36-year-old former Chelsea man in the Three Lions engine room. And Lampard, a veteran of three World Cups, is convinced the experience gained this summer by the up-and-coming generation will bode well for the future of the England national team. “If Barkley and Wilshere perform for their clubs they will get their chance,” said Lampard. “They certainly have quality. “They are impressive. There are no big heads amongst the kids who have come through, no kids coming in thinking they can stroll about. They are trying to do the right things, though we have not got out of the group. “They have applied themselves, trained well and showed glimpses at time. The disappointing thing is that the team has not done it. “It is about the future and looking for them to get better.”
