Everton manager Sam Allardyce is said to be interested in bringing Hoffenheim captain Kevin Vogt to Goodison Park, according to the Daily Mail. While much of the focus for the former England boss has been on improving the Toffees from an attacking standpoint, their recent form has convinced him that he needs to work on securing them up defensively. Everton have shipped nine goals in their previous four Premier League matches and are suddenly starting to struggle to contain opposition sides, and that is a real concern for Allardyce. The last few outings have been very surprising because when the Toffees boss took over he immediately shored up the defence, as he is known for doing. While he will be keen for his Everton side to get back to basics when it comes to defending, it appears his patience with his current squad has run out, and he is searching for the man who will shore them up again. The uncapped German would seem to be that player. Initially the interest was said to be in making a move for him in the summer, but given the recent leak in their defence, Everton boss Allardyce could be forced to try and bring him to Merseyside sooner than planned. The 26-year-old joined Hoffenheim in August 2016 and has gone on to make 59 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit, including impressing against Liverpool in the Champions League qualifiers at the beginning of the season. The defender has previously been employed as a midfielder so he is comfortable on the ball, and his flexibility would be very much a positive were he to make the switch to Goodison Park. Everton manager Allardyce has already been busy in this transfer window by securing big-money moves for Cenk Tosun and Theo Walcott in January, and as the deadline draws closer it appears one last deal is not out of the question.
