Richard Kenyon, Director of Marketing and Communications at Everton Football Club has been shortlisted for the prestigious Northern Marketer of the Year award by the world’s largest professional marketing association, the Chartered Institute of Marketing. Kenyon, who is a Chartered Marketer and a Fellow of the Institute – the highest level of accreditation available in the UK – is joined on the highly regarded shortlist by Phil Batty, Director of Public Engagement and Legacy at Hull UK City of Culture 2017, Nigel Hunter, Marketing & Customer Director at Victoriaplum.com , Theresa Lindsay, Head of Corporate Marketing at Hitachi, Chris Cotterill, Head of Marketing at Plusnet and Dawn McGruer, Founder of Business Consort. The shortlisting follows on from over 14 national and regional nominations for the marketing, communications, partnerships, hospitality and engagement teams at the Club, all of which will be announced during a busy November awards season. Many of the awards nominations relate to the Club’s success in securing the highest attendances in the Club’s recent history, breaking Season Ticket and Membership sales records over the last 12-months, the ground-breaking pre-season tour to Tanzania with the Club’s new main partner SportPesa and for the success in promoting and marketing some the pioneering initiatives run by the Club’s sporting charity, Everton in the Community. Nominations span the 40 programmes operated by Everton in the Community including being recognised as the Best Community Scheme in Football, the work the Club do within the ‘Bluemile’ around Goodison Park and the successful ‘Home Is Where The Heart Is’ campaign which raised over £244,000 to fund an assisted living facility for young people to help combat homelessness in Liverpool. The winner of the Northern Marketer of the year will be announced by judge, Steve Antoniewicz, Managing Director of Recommended Agency Register, at the awards ceremony in Manchester on Thursday, November 9.
