Loan Round-UpPennington helps Leeds United keep pace in Championship promotion race, Dowell's Forest win. Matthew Pennington helped Leeds United keep pace in the race for the automatic promotion places in the Championship as Thomas Christiansen's men saw off Bristol City this weekend. The young Blues defender played the full 90 minutes at Ashton Gate, where an early brace from Spanish striker Samuel Saiz set United on their way to a 3-0 success, with Pierre-Michel Lasogga rounding off the scoring. The result sees Leeds stay in fourth, four points off early pacesetters Wolves and Cardiff City. Elsewhere in the second tier, Kieran Dowell stepped off the bench to play his part in Nottingham Forest’s 2-0 win over Burton Albion, which saw them move up to 12th in the table. But Joe Williams couldn’t stop Barnsley succumbing to a 1-0 home defeat to Hull City, a result that leaves the Tykes just two points off the bottom three. Both Tyias Browning and Brendan Galloway missed out on the Sunderland squad for their 3-3 draw away at Brentford, an entertaining contest in which the Black Cats surrendered a 3-1 advantage in west London. Liam Walsh was another absentee as Birmingham City lost 2-0 at Millwall, while both Callum Connolly and Antonee Robinson were unused substitutes in their games on Saturday. Connolly’s Ipswich were edged 1-0 in the East Anglia derby against Norwich City, with Robinson watching on as Bolton kept their revival going with a 1-1 draw with QPR. Dropping into League Two, midfielder Conor Grant played an hour as Crewe lost at home to Accrington Stanley. Billy Kee and Jordan Clark had the visitors 2-0 in front as early as the 11th minute and that’s the way it stayed, with Alex defender Michael Raynes seeing red late on. And over in Belgium, Henry Onyekuru couldn’t stop Anderlecht losing more ground in the Jupiler League title race as his side lost 1-0 at home to Genk, despite the Everton loanee playing the full 90 minutes.
