Seamus Coleman has been named Players' Players of the Season at Everton's ninth annual End of Season Awards. The right-back picked up the honour after being voted the winner by his Blues peers. Coleman joined a list of past victors that includes Sylvain Distin, Phil Jagielka and three-time winner Leighton Baines. Defensively, the Republic of Ireland international has played a major role in helping Everton's lean rearguard - one that has conceded a meagre 39 goals in the Premier League this term. However, Coleman's goalscoring form has also been notable, with the 25-year-old having bagged seven goals in all competitions. Speaking live to evertontv upon receiving his award, Coleman said: “It’s a very proud for moment for myself. These are the lads I train and play with every Saturday, so it’s a great honour to get their vote.” Coleman, a January 2009 arrival from League of Ireland outfit Sligo Rovers, had one of his seven strikes - his stunner at Swansea City in December - in contention to win the Goal of the Season prize. And the full-back admitted he has been delighted by his attacking contribution in 2013/14. He added: “My form has been good and I’ve been happy with how I have played this season. I got off to a good start in the first game [at Norwich] and I have managed to kick-on from there.”

Not deserved for me, he is the weakest of the back 4 and take his lucky pot shots away he has only contributed 1 assist which isn't great

Not deserved for me, he is the weakest of the back 4 and take his lucky pot shots away he has only contributed 1 assist which isn't great I thought he had a really poor start to the season, and his form wasn't great around October. Howard was my choice for player of the year, as I thought he had been outstanding throughout. The difference when you document things every week is you tend to remember things as they are, rather than get carried away with all the media and fan hype. You see it with commentators who talk about player x or player b being 'fantastic for the club this year' when the truth is they have been pretty lousy other than a successful match where something went right. Barkley is a prime example. You have to wonder sometimes what matches people have been watching all season, when you have players like John Stones, James McCarthy, and even Naismith playing their asses off for the club, but Barkley scores a screamer against City and he is suddenly hot favourite for Brazil. Let's forget that for every shot he gets on target at least another 20 have ended up in row Z. Let's not forget the amount of times he was ineffective, or the amount of times Lukaku would show frustration at his inability to pass the ball, but he is the current 'darling' of the club, and the future cash cow, and so it is in the clubs interests to raise his profile. Of course that's only my opinion, and what do I know.
