Tyias Browning has been named Everton Under-21s’ Player of the Season. The central defender has led from the back this last year, captaining the young Blues to a top-half league finish. Under-21s coaching pair Alan Stubbs and David Unsworth presented Browning with his prize before the youngster spoke to evertontv to reflect on an excellent personal campaign. Browning said: “It’s really pleasing to be recognised. I’m pleased with my form this season and it’s good to get this award at the end of it. “Going away with the first-team has been brilliant and I feel like I have learned loads.” 2013/14 witnessed Browning make his competitive senior debut on loan at Wigan Athletic, with whom he made two first-team appearances during a month-long spell in January. After returning to Merseyside, the academy product regularly found himself part of Roberto Martinez’s first-team plans as the Blues boss continued to put his faith in youth. Although Browning is still to make a first Everton senior appearance, he was named in the matchday squad for six Premier League fixtures towards the back end of the 2013/14 season. Past winners of the Under-21s Player of the Season accolade include Victor Anichebe, Shane Duffy and Adam Forshaw.
