Roy Gregory has been recognised for his loyalty to Everton by being named the Club’s Fan of the Year for 2013/14. The only Evertonian of 11 siblings, Roy was nominated by fellow supporters after missing just two competitive games, both domestically and in Europe, since 1958 – and one of those was because he was left behind on route to Middlesbrough in 2000! His devotion to following the Blues has seen Roy overcome plenty of hurdles – none more so than his first ever game. In 1958, Roy took his seat to watch Everton… and promptly saw them lose 10-4 to Tottenham Hotspur! Since that introduction, he has travelled to over 40 countries to support his beloved Toffees, including flying out to attend the tour matches in Australia back in the 1960s. A season ticket holder for over 50 years, Roy is currently found on matchdays in the Park End. Roy received a standing ovation at the St George’s Hall when he was invited on stage to collect his trophy – the first presented at the Club’s Annual Awards Evening - from Everton Giant Joe Royle and Chief Executive Robert Elstone.
